Ulrika Edström

Ulrika Edström has been an alternating principal cellist with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra since 1989. Ulrika studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm under Professor Ola Karlsson and continued her training abroad with William Pleeth and Siegfried Palm, among others. She performed her diploma concert with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Osmo Vänskä, playing Elgar’s Cello Concerto.

As a member of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Ulrika has toured major parts of the world and played in, for example, Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna, and Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, together with conductors such as Esa Pekka Salonen, Myung Whun Chung, Valery Gergiev, and Daniel Harding.

Ulrika was the soloist when the Royal Academic Orchestra played Lutoslawski’s Cello Concerto in the autumn of 2012.
