Hermann Stefánsson

The Icelander Hermann Stefánsson has been principal clarinettist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and the Stockholm Sinfonietta since 1995. Before that, he held the same position with the Helsingborg  Symphony Orchestra.

Stefánsson is also a member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic wind quintet and the Swedish Serenade Ensemble. He has been a soloist with many Swedish and foreign orchestras, including the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Moreover he regularly participates in the chamber music series at Stockholm Concert Hall. He is an adjunct professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and was previously an adjunct professor at the Sarajevo Music Academy. He has also worked as a teacher at the Colleges of Music in Malmö and Piteå and has been a visiting teacher at universities around the world. In 2003 he was named “Philharmonic Musician of the Year”.
